If you burn more calories than you take in then you've a problem. You feel weak and your body cries out for extra energy. Carbohydrates are the best nutrients in this case: They provide the energy that your body needs. Unfortunately, most high - carbohydrate foods also contain high levels of fiber and fluid. These components quickly fill up your stomach while your energy reserves are nowhere near replenished. The result: You still don't feel well and you go around feeling hungry all day.
In fact, if you've an active metabolism you need to eat throughout the day. But that certainly isn't fun. What's more, it's just not possible for many of us to eat high - quality meals all the time. For the simple reason that we don't have time to prepare a good meal during working hours or we are unable to take food in with us.
In such cases a weight gainer may be the solution. Specially developed for athletes, our weight gainers have a balanced mixture of carbohydrates, protein, fats, vitamins and minerals. Precisely at those moments when your body needs extra calories, it's important that you get the "right" ones.
To put on weight, add 10% to the amount of calories you require each day and then increase this daily calorie intake by 10% each month. Carry on like this until you've reached your target weight. Perhaps now you're thinking: "I'll never be able to get all those calories down". But taht's precisely why weight gainers were invented!
Here's slightly quicker way out your total daily energy requirement. This is a good alternative for people who aren't able to have their fat percentage measured with skinfold calipers.

Sample calculation: Suppose you're a man aged 25 weighing 85 kilos with a job in which you do a reasonable amount of physical labor. Let's suppose also that you work out or do sports 3 times a week for about 1 hour each time. So you'd look in the column: Man, reasonable active, 20-30 years. There it says that, per kilo bodyweight, you need 40 kcal. So per day you need: 40 kcal x 85 kg = 3400 kcal. Or suppose you're a woman aged 25, that you weight 65 kilos and you work in an office. You work out or do sport twice a week for 1.5 hours each time. You are therefore "reasonably active". In this case you'd look in the column: Woman, reasonably active, 20-30 years. There it says that, per kilogram bodyweight, you need 35 kcal. Per day you therefore need 35 kcal x 65 kg = 2275 kcal. The number of calories you need per day therefore depends on your gender, your age, your weight and your physical activities.
Protein
It's important to make sure that you get enough protein. If you want to build up muscle, you require at least 2 g protein per kg bodyweight. For example, if you weigh 80 kg, then you must make sure to consume 160 g protein per day. Your body can process 30 g protein over a 3-hour interval, so if you want to put on weight you will need to take in at least 30 g protein every 3 hours.
It's far from always possible to prepare or pack a meal that provides exactly 30 g protein. Normal foods usually contain mostly carbohydrates and unfortunately far too little protein. There is hardly any food that supplies precisely 30 g protein. The best protein in our diet comes from egg whites, skinned chicken or turkey, and fish. But the piece of meat, fish or chicken that you eat for dinner only accounts for 23 g protein at the most. Far too little then. This is why taking a weight gainer is so important. Every time you mix a shake, you know precisely how much protein you're consuming.
Carbohydrates
Choose a weight gainer that has a good combination of simple and complex carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates are good when you want to bulk up and when you don't have a voracious appetite. After eating simple carbohydrates your blood sugar level rises very fast, but this also causes you soon to feel hungry again. Consequently, you also need complex carbohydrates in oder not to go round feeling hungry all day. Complex carbohydrates consist of long chains of molecules that must be slowly broken down into smaller, digestible pieces. As a result, these carbohydrates supply you with energy over a long period. Maltodextrin is the most commonly used complex carbohydrate in dietary supplements. Dextrose, glucose and fructose are the most commonly used simple carbohydrates.
Fats
It's not a good idea to eat too much fatty food when you want to put on weight. Too much fat weighs heavy on your stomach and reduces your appetite. This is why our weight gainers contain minimal amounts of fat.
Vitamins and minerals
You need vitamins and minerals just like anyone else. In particular, if you take sport seriously, smoke or under a lot of stress, vitamin and mineral supplements are definitely advisable. For this reason our weight gainers contain a carefully balanced mixture of vitamins.
Combination with Vanadyl Sulfate
For athletes who want to bulk up, it's extremely important that any nutrients they take are fully digested. It's therefore a good idea to use the supplement Vanadyl Sulfate. This compound, derived from the trace element vanadium, has strong anabolic properties. In the body, vanadyl behaves biologically in the same way as insulin, which is, according to scientists, the body's strongest anabolic hormone. Vanadyl Sulfate can promote the transport of amino acids in the blood and also the storage of glycogen, thus increasing the amount of energy available. Vandalyn Sulfate is able to increase the amount of energy stored in the form of glycogen. This means that you've more energy when you're training. What's more, Vanadyl Sulfate use helps nutrients get to the right place faster.
Using a weight gainer to loose weight
People wanting to lose weight can also benefit from a weight gain product. This might seem strange, but a balanced mixture of carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins and minerals also makes a good substitute for a meal. A normal meal easily contains too many fats and carbohydrates, whereas a weight gainer has hardly any fat and a good mixture of carbohydrates.
